Global wars and uncertainty drive defense spending to rise for 11th year in a row, with global military spending set to rise by 2.9 percent to $2,887 billion in 2025.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the top defense spenders in 2025 are the United States, China, and Russia, with a combined spending of $1,471 billion, or 51 percent of global spending.
According to the Peace Research Institute, although U.S. military spending fell by 7.5 percent, the United States remained the top spender, spending $954 billion.
The biggest driver of the increase in global military spending was Europe, where spending increased by 14 percent to $864 billion.
India’s war-mongering was seen to increase and India increased its military spending by 8.9 percent to over $92 billion.
Pakistan’s military spending was seen to increase by 11 percent to $11.9 billion.
According to the report, Israel’s defense spending decreased by 4.9 percent to $48.3 billion, while Iran’s spending decreased for the second consecutive year, decreasing by 5.6 percent to $7.4 billion.
