According to the spokesperson of the Inspector General (IG) of Police Azad Kashmir, on June 7, armed elements of the Prohibited Action Committee tried to disrupt law and order in Rawalakot and opened fire on law enforcement agencies in a planned manner.

The spokesperson of the IG Azad Kashmir said that armed elements of the Prohibited Action Committee laid siege to CMH Rawalakot, due to which the normal medical services and activities of the hospital were severely affected, however, the law enforcement agencies showed patience, restraint and responsibility. The spokesperson said that on the intervening night of June 7 and 8, the siege of CMH Rawalakot was lifted in a systematic, limited operation. The operation prioritized the protection of citizens, patients, medical staff and government property and the siege of the hospital was completely cleared. According to the spokesperson of the IG Azad Kashmir, all medical services in the hospital have been restored as usual. Since June 6, 4 law enforcement officials have been martyred in the firing of violent elements, including 3 from Rawalakot police and one from the Frontier Constabulary, while several others were injured.

The spokesperson of the IG Azad Kashmir further said that 3 members of the banned Action Committee were killed in their own indiscriminate firing, several were injured, including those who died on the night of June 5 and 6.

On the other hand, on June 7, police personnel were subjected to violence and their bodies were desecrated in Rawalakot. According to the police, in the video, the miscreants fired directly at the police and law enforcement agencies.

In the video, the violent attack and the body of the martyred policeman can be seen being desecrated.

On the other hand, life is going on as usual in various districts of Azad Kashmir and Kohala, all markets and commercial centers in Kohala are open and the people have rejected the call for protest.

It should be noted that in the past few days, the Azad Kashmir government had declared the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee a banned organization, and the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee has announced a strike on June 9.
