Punjab presents budget of over Rs 5,903 billion

A proposal to increase salaries of government employees by 7 percent and pension by 3.5 percent was made in the provincial budget.

Rs 27 billion was allocated for the laptop scheme, Rs 15 billion for the Honhar Scholarship Program.

The provincial revenue target in the budget was set at Rs 1,209 billion, Rs 752 billion was allocated for the development affairs of the province, and Rs 750 billion for the education sector.

Punjab Finance Minister Shuja-ur-Rehman said that 10 percent of the total budget has been allocated for the health sector, and the provision of digital facilities and the promotion of modern education will be ensured in Punjab.

Earlier, the Punjab cabinet approved the budget for the next fiscal year.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz claimed that Punjab gave the federal government the largest share in defense and other matters.

Addressing the Punjab cabinet meeting after the budget approval, Maryam Nawaz said that there will be no compromise on the journey of development of the people of Punjab, the journey of relief and service to the people will continue as before.
