Pakistani actor and host Imran Ashraf has denied the fake news about his death that went viral on social media and informed fans about his well-being.
An AI-generated video quickly went viral on social media, in which the news of Imran Ashraf’s death was broadcast.
The fake video caused concern among the actor’s fans, after which Imran Ashraf himself came forward and explained.
Imran Ashraf appealed to fans for prayers in his post on Instagram, writing, “Alhamdulillah! I am absolutely fine, this is fake news, I need all your prayers.”
The fake video that went viral was shared on a TikTok account, where there were more videos of the same nature. In these videos, senior journalists, cricketers and actors were shown condoling the death of Imran Ashraf.
The AI-generated video showed a newscaster breaking the news of Imran Ashraf’s death, while claiming that the actor had suffered a heart attack, which led to his death.
It should be noted that Imran Ashraf is not the first Pakistani artist to be targeted by fake news generated by artificial intelligence. In June this year, singer Tahira Syed also clarified that she was completely fine after the news of her death surfaced on the internet and appealed to people not to share unverified news.
Similarly, last month, actors and hosts Tawsiq Haider and Farah Saadia also reacted to the fake video and news about their wedding that went viral, calling them baseless.
