.
Campaign Slogan: “Your Voice, Your City, Our Future”
Mayoral candidate for Woodstock, Asjad Hussain, has announced his election manifesto, pledging to make Woodstock a safer, stronger and more prosperous city offering equal opportunities to all residents.
Asjad Hussain said that, if elected, public safety will be his top priority. He pledged to strengthen coordination and cooperation with police, fire and emergency services, while improving street lighting, roads and public spaces. He also proposed greater support for community-based programs aimed at crime prevention.
Addressing the city’s growing traffic challenges, Asjad Hussain said a comprehensive plan would be developed to provide long-term solutions. Timely maintenance of roads, sidewalks and pedestrian routes would be ensured, while safe cycling and walking infrastructure would also be promoted.
Affordable and accessible housing is another key component of his manifesto. Asjad Hussain said he would support initiatives aimed at increasing housing opportunities for young people, seniors and low-income families.
He further said that a business-friendly environment would be created to strengthen the local economy. Small and medium-sized businesses would be encouraged, while efforts would be made to attract new investors and businesses to Woodstock. Cooperation with local institutions would also be expanded to create skills training, employment and career opportunities for young people.
According to Asjad Hussain, his vision also includes promoting sports, cultural activities and community programs. More opportunities for positive activities and leadership development would be created for young people, while community centres and social programs for seniors would be strengthened.
He pledged to protect and expand parks and green spaces and to improve the city’s cleanliness and waste-management systems.
“Woodstock is a city for everyone. Bringing together residents from different cultures, languages and backgrounds will be one of my priorities. Every citizen deserves respect, opportunities and the right to have their voice heard,” Asjad Hussain said.
He added that his vision was not limited to solving today’s challenges but to building a better Woodstock for future generations—a city with improved infrastructure, a strong economy, safe neighbourhoods, quality public services and citizens who can take pride in their community.
“My promise is to treat politics not as a position, but as an opportunity to serve,” Asjad Hussain said.
