Agreement reached with Iran; no more attacks; President Trump’s big claim

Summary

Agreement reached with Iran; no more attacks; President Trump’s big claim

US President Donald Trump has announced that a major agreement with Iran has been almost reached, due to which the air strikes scheduled for tonight have been canceled.
According to the World News Agency, President Trump says that a consensus has been reached between the United States, Iran and several countries in the region on the basic points of the agreement. Therefore, there will be no more attacks.
The US president also said that the US military will maintain the blockade of the Iranian Navy until the agreement is formally signed. He did not provide further information regarding the signing of the agreement. On the other hand, the Iranian government has not yet confirmed or denied President Trump’s claim of consensus on the basic points of the agreement.
However, diplomatic sources say that talks are underway between the two countries on an interim agreement.
The proposed agreement includes strengthening the ceasefire, releasing some frozen Iranian assets and measures to reduce tension in the Strait of Hormuz. While detailed negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program will continue later.

On the other hand, tensions in the region have not completely subsided. Limited attacks and retaliations between American and Iranian forces continue, while the United States also maintains its naval blockade against Iranian ports.

It should be remembered that President Trump has claimed on several occasions before that an agreement has been reached with Iran, but the negotiations have been stalled at various points.

Trump’s claim today is also shocking because he had said some time ago that he would launch heavy attacks on Iran starting tonight and seize its oil and gas reserves.
