The campaigning period in 13 constituencies of 3 districts of Azad Kashmir Mirpur division ended at 12 midnight.
The delivery of election materials to polling stations will begin today, i.e. Sunday. In the first phase of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, polling will be held in 13 constituencies of 3 districts of Mirpur division, Mirpur, Kotli and Bhambar on July 27.
The total number of registered voters in these constituencies is 14,01,439, including 7,25,118 male and 6,75,628 female voters.
A total of 2,454 polling stations have been set up in Mirpur division, including 597 in 4 constituencies of Mirpur district, 1,107 in 6 constituencies of Kotli district and 608 in 3 constituencies of Bhambar district.
A total of 296 candidates are in the fray in 13 constituencies of Mirpur division, including the Muslim League (N), Pakistan Peoples Party, Ustadz Pakistan Party and independent candidates.
In LA-3 Mirpur, LA-6 Bhambhar and LA-10 Kotli, a close contest is expected between the PPP, PML-N and Ustadz Pakistan Party.
It should be noted that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has announced its full support for the Muslim League-N in the Azad Kashmir elections.
To seek support in the Azad Kashmir elections, a delegation of the Muslim League-N, led by the party’s provincial president Bashir Memon, reached the MQM Pakistan headquarters in Bahadurabad, where they met with senior MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar and others.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Dr. Farooq Sattar announced his full support for the Muslim League-N in the Azad Kashmir elections and said that all MQM Pakistan candidates will withdraw in favor of the PML-N.
