According to experts, if a user has made a public post in the past on a personal matter, a dispute with a friend or a sensitive topic, it is possible that that information will come to light in a few moments through the AI search feature in the future, although it was not easy to find it in thousands of posts earlier.
According to reports, Facebook is preparing to introduce a new feature based on artificial intelligence in its search system, after which the search bar will also provide answers to questions like a chat assistant instead of just searching for words in the traditional way. Under this system, users will be able to access public posts, comments and other available information from several years ago relatively easily.
Experts say that while this change will make it easier to find information than before, it could also raise privacy and cybersecurity concerns. According to them, if public posts are analyzed and searched more effectively through AI, cybercriminals could use users’ information to more easily target them for fraud or other online scams.
Cybersecurity experts advise users not to make their personal information public unnecessarily and to keep posts on Facebook private, rather than public, and to limit it to friends or a limited circle. For this purpose, Facebook’s “Limit Past Posts” feature can be used, which can limit all past public posts to friends only.
Experts have also emphasized that users should periodically review their privacy settings and avoid sharing personal information on social media that could pose a threat to their privacy or security in the future.
