A CPSP delegation, led by President Prof. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi and Senior Vice President Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, visited Ireland and attended the annual Steering Committee meeting with the HSE, Royal Colleges of Ireland and training programme directors. The meeting reviewed the Pakistani doctors’ training scheme and finalized the roadmap for 2027, with the initiative recognized as mutually beneficial “Brain Gain” rather than Brain Drain.
The delegation also met Pakistani postgraduate residents and local supervisors to discuss training quality, improvements and expansion. At the Pakistan Embassy in Dublin, Ambassador Maryam Aftab welcomed the delegation and highlighted the valuable services of Pakistani doctors in Ireland.
Dublin Lord Mayor Daryl Barron hosted a reception, while Ireland’s Minister for Public Expenditure and Public Service and Fianna Fáil Deputy Leader Jack Chambers, consultant anaesthetist Frank Chambers, and local supervisors attended a concluding dinner and praised Pakistani doctors’ professionalism and CPSP’s outstanding training system.
