Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that whether he holds office or not, he will not back down from the demand for new provinces. He is the biggest supporter of Islamabad province. They will remain as administrative units. No individual, no political party or representative can stop it. If this is the voice of the people’s hearts, then it will continue to happen.
Speaking at an event titled ‘National Policy Dialogue’ in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that even after 79 years, the desired results are not being achieved. It is necessary to reset the system. We have to look at the system of our country and we should be clear about what is the real purpose of resetting the system.
He said that there were different interpretations of the talk of resetting the system, some people linked the resetting of the system to the current government, some people interpreted the resetting of the system as the current political arrangement, but the talk of resetting the system did not point to any one government or political party.
The Federal Minister said that Pakistan also has to review its system, our aim is not to change the government or any political party, our aim is to remove the shortcomings in the system, many projects have been built in 79 years but the people could not get the desired results, education, health, clean water and sanitation basic facilities should be available to every citizen, improvement in the system and better delivery will solve the problems of the people.
He said that Islamabad is the only city that does not get any budget, CDA runs the system by selling its lands.
He said that is there any city like Quetta in Balochistan, Peshawar in KPK, Lahore in Punjab and Karachi in Sindh? In my opinion, the mayor who becomes the mayor knows the problems of the common man better, I am not going to back down from this now, new mayors will come, if new administrative units are necessary for the betterment of the people and the people also want this, then there should be no obstacle in it.
He said that in the statement regarding the reset or the system, I was not referring to any political party or any political arrangement, I talked about resetting the system that has been running since 1979.
Mohsin Naqvi said that a 5th class child cannot even read simple sentences, this is the state of our education, whether I stay in this job or not, I will not back down from this, whatever the result.
He said that the work of creating new provinces should be done within the constitution. The decision to create new administrative units or not should be made by the will of the people, not by any government or party. If the people of Pakistan want new administrative units to be formed, then they should be formed by all means, but if the people do not want them, then these units should not be formed, they will remain as administrative units, neither a single individual, nor a political party nor representatives can stop them, if this is the voice of the people’s heart, then it will continue to happen. The Interior Minister said that the decision on new provinces will be made by the will of the people, it will only happen if the people want it, your opinion does not matter, the opinion of the people matters. If the will of the people is in this matter, then it should be allowed to happen. Mohsin Naqvi said that there are very emotional speeches being made today regarding the administrative unit, please do not be emotional about it, this is not something that is going to happen tomorrow, it will only happen if the people want it, your opinion does not matter in this, the opinion of the people matters, everyone should be relaxed.
