Education is the foundation of any nation’s development and progress, and the teacher is the strongest pillar of this foundation. But the tragedy is that in many private educational institutions in our society, the same teacher does not get the respect, protection and dignity that his position demands.
The teacher is called the architect of the nation, but when the same architect is scolded in front of everyone for trivial matters, his professional opinion is ignored, he is made to work long hours, is not paid properly and the fear of job insecurity is always looming over his head, then this situation is not limited to the exploitation of just one employee but weakens the entire education system.
It should also be kept in mind that not all private educational institutions are the same. Many institutions respect their teachers, provide them with better facilities and opportunities for development. However, where humiliation is made an administrative method, neither the teacher can teach with satisfaction nor can the students get the best education.
The position of the Education Union Movement is clear that respect for teachers, adequate salary, job security, professional freedom and fair accountability are the fundamental rights of every teacher. Discipline must be there, but it should not be based on fear and humiliation, but on trust, training and mutual respect.
We appeal to the government, owners of educational institutions, parents and all sections of society that the teacher should not be considered just an employee but should be recognized as the architect of the nation’s future. The day the dignity of the teacher is restored, the same day the standard of education will also be raised and the nation will set new heights of development.
The respect of a teacher is actually the respect of knowledge; and the respect of knowledge is the guarantee of the glory of nations.
