According to a US news website, an investigation has revealed that an Iranian drone targeted the helicopter, causing it to crash, but it is not clear whether the attack was deliberate.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the two crew members of the helicopter were safely rescued from the sea off the coast of Oman.
According to sources familiar with the incident, a dramatic search operation lasting several hours was carried out to find the crew.
A US Navy drone ship found and rescued the crew at sea, which was the first such incident in which a maritime drone was used for this purpose.
According to US officials, the drone was manufactured by the company Seronic and is part of Task Force 59 of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which operates maritime drones with advanced technology, including artificial intelligence.
