A CME session focusing on the important medical issue of insulin resistance was held in Lahore, attended by family physicians and healthcare professionals. The session was organized by the Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians Pakistan (PAFP) in collaboration with Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre.
The session was addressed by Dr. Tariq Mahmood Main, Consultant Family Physician and President of the Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians Pakistan, who delivered an informative lecture on the causes, symptoms, potential complications, early diagnosis and effective management of insulin resistance.
Dr. Tariq Mahmood Main explained that insulin resistance occurs when the body’s cells do not respond effectively to insulin, which may lead to elevated blood sugar levels and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
He emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, regular physical activity and weight management in reducing the risks associated with insulin resistance.
He also stressed the need for healthcare professionals to ensure early identification and appropriate guidance for patients with insulin resistance to help prevent diabetes and related complications.
