Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has openly defended Babar Azam and criticized former cricketers and cricket analysts. Talking to Sky Sports, Azhar Mahmood said that Pakistan’s only superstar batsman is constantly facing criticism and is not being given the respect he deserves. Azhar Mahmood said that Babar is a very shy person and has had to go through a lot of difficulties in the past few years. He said that he spent time with Babar for about five months when he was out of the team after the last series against England.
According to Azhar, Babar was very tolerant of the behavior of former players and critics on social media.
Azhar Mahmood said that Babar definitely has some flaws which can be improved, but he has become more mature and mature with time.
According to him, Babar seems more confident when he is the captain, while after stepping down from leadership, he sometimes limits himself due to criticism. Babar has achieved a total of 56.67 percent victories in 150 matches while leading Pakistan. Under his leadership, Pakistan reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup and the final of the next edition, while their win ratio in ODIs was more than 60 percent.
