In the petition, Preity Zinta has taken the stand that deep fake videos, altered images and chatbot-style content are being created and published without permission using her appearance and likeness through artificial intelligence, which may affect her reputation.
The actress has requested the court to immediately remove all controversial content created using her name and identity from social media and various online platforms, while also banning the publication of such content in the future.
This petition came up for hearing under the chairmanship of Justice Madhav Jamdar, where the court, after hearing the initial arguments, directed the concerned parties and online platforms to formulate a joint procedure for removing the controversial content.
The further hearing of the case will be on July 6.
It should be noted that deepfake technology uses artificial intelligence to create videos, images, or audio that can show a person doing things or doing things that never happened in reality.
