The Punjab Literacy Department held a special ceremony to mark International Literacy Day, reaffirming its commitment to expanding literacy initiatives and bringing out-of-school children into the education system.
MPA Maria Talal, Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhry Naveed Ashraf, and representatives of UNICEF and JICA appreciated the department’s efforts and encouraged high-performing teachers and students.
Secretary Literacy Syed Haider Iqbal said new programmes have been launched under the Punjab government’s vision, with over 21,000 non-formal schools providing educational opportunities to around 700,000 children across the province. He said further measures would be taken to improve literacy and address the challenge of out-of-school children.
