Apart from the case of killing a security official in Gwadar, Dr. Mahrang and his associates are also facing other cases.
A Quetta anti-terrorism court on Monday sentenced Baloch Unity Committee (BYC) leader Mahrang Baloch and three other associates to 25 years in prison each.
Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Baloch Shah, Balach Qadir and Abu Bakar Kalanchi were accused of allegedly pelting stones at Frontier Constabulary (FC) official Shabbir Baloch during a public gathering and protest in February 2024, which resulted in his death.
According to the prosecution, the incident took place during a gathering held in Gwadar. The government had registered a murder case against Mahrang Baloch and his four other associates.
After the trial hearings inside Quetta Jail, the court on Monday sentenced the four accused to 25 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Dr. Mah Rang did his MBBS from Bolan Medical College, Quetta. His father, Abdul Ghaffar Lango, was killed in 2011 after an alleged enforced disappearance.
Mah Rang started a movement in Balochistan against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and for the rights of the Baloch people. She is the main organizer of the Baloch Solidarity Committee (BYC).
She started protest activities against her father’s arrest on December 11, 2009.
She also protested against the disappearance of her brother in 2016, who was recovered three months later.
