According to Indian media, Rajesh Khanna married Dimple Kapadia in 1973 when Dimple was only 16 years old. Their married life started with a bang but soon their relationship soured. After the birth of two daughters, the couple separated in 1982 but this separation could never take the form of a legal divorce._x000D_

Later, Rajesh Khanna was in a close relationship with Anita Advani for more than a decade before his death. According to Indian media, in April this year, the Bombay High Court rejected Anita Advani’s request to recognize the time she spent with Rajesh Khanna as a valid marriage. On the contrary, the court declared this relationship to be in the ‘character of live-in relationship’, a relationship that does not meet the requirements of marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act.
