Sindh Minister for Livestock & Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani to discuss collaboration in research, training, and knowledge exchange.
During a meeting with senior faculty, both sides explored cooperation in livestock development, animal health, biotechnology, vaccine production, breed improvement, genomics, and climate-smart farming. The minister expressed interest in training Sindh Livestock Department staff at UVAS and facilitating DVM admissions for talented students from Sindh.
Prof Dr Masood Rabbani reaffirmed UVAS’s commitment to supporting Sindh through professional training, research partnerships, and livestock sector development.
Separately, Prof Dr Tehmina Mustafa of the University of Bergen, Norway, met the Vice-Chancellor to discuss a joint One Health research initiative on zoonotic disease surveillance at the livestock-human interface, with plans to pursue international research funding and strengthen veterinary-human health collaboration.
