A wide-ranging network of UAE-sponsored water supply, filtration and reverse-osmosis projects is providing clean and safe drinking water to communities across Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur and Jhal Magsi.
A major part of the humanitarian initiative comprises 39 water supply, filtration, RO and pumping projects established in the name of the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding President of the UAE. The projects serve hospitals, educational institutions, residential colonies, rural settlements and desert communities.
In Rahim Yar Khan, filtration plants have been established at key public locations including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, District Courts, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Allama Iqbal Library, Eidgah, colleges and other community areas. Dedicated water supply facilities at Sheikh Zayed Hospital provide clean drinking water to patients and attendants, with each plant having a capacity of 1,042 gallons per hour and storage of 25,000 gallons.
The programme also extends to Rajanpur, where RO and filtration plants serve communities in Rojhan, Umerkot, Kot Mithan and surrounding areas. The Goth Mazari scheme distributes drinking water through 25 community tanks, benefiting around 2,500 people from nearly 310 households.
In Jhal Magsi, Balochistan, the initiative includes overhead and underground storage tanks, pumping stations, pipelines and around 400 water connections. A 12-kilometre pipeline links water tanks with the Nagore pumping station, while another 2.5-kilometre pipeline connects Nagore with Sargani.
The projects also cover Cholistan and rural communities along the Alipur-to-Palace Road, providing water for residents, livestock, healthcare facilities and public institutions.
With ongoing maintenance, monitoring and operational support, these UAE-sponsored initiatives continue to provide a vital humanitarian service, improving access to safe drinking water and enhancing the quality of life for thousands of people in underserved communities.
