Washington: The ongoing tension between the US and Iran has intensified further, where the US military has carried out new airstrikes on various areas of Iran for the sixth consecutive day.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said in its statement that the aim of the latest attacks is to further limit Iran’s military capabilities and damage its military infrastructure.
According to Iranian media, a major bridge in the coastal city of Bandar Khemir in Hormozgan province was targeted late at night. The bridge was severely damaged as a result of the attack, while Iranian news agencies later reported the death toll to be 7. According to authorities, 9 people have also been injured and are being treated at nearby hospitals.According to reports, the attack also targeted the Kihvaristan Bridge and a residential area in Bandar Abbas, damaging civilian infrastructure.
On the other hand, the Iranian news agency Tasnim claimed that a communications tower installed on a hill near Bandar Abbas was also hit by the US attack, which caused power outages in some areas of the city.
US officials did not release details of individual targets, but CENTCOM said that operations will continue to weaken Iran’s military capabilities, while Iranian officials have begun a further assessment of the consequences and damages of the attacks.
