According to CENTCOM, the action against Iranian oil tankers was taken after the Revolutionary Guards attempted to target a US warship with ballistic missiles twice in two days.
The US command says that the US warship successfully thwarted the Iranian missile attack attempts and no US personnel were harmed in the incident. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned Iran that if Tehran tries to target US warships, it will lose its oil tankers. According to the US military, the action against Iranian tankers is a response to recent attacks on US ships.
On the other hand, Iranian state media has claimed that Iran has targeted US targets in Jordan with missiles. However, US Central Command did not immediately provide any details regarding the alleged missile attack on a US airbase in Jordan.
