YDA Punjab Demands Grand Conventions and PMDC Elections

The District and General Council of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab held a meeting at Services Hospital Lahore, attended by council presidents from across the province. The meeting discussed issues faced by patients and doctors, their rights, and measures to improve healthcare facilities. The association announced that its office-bearers would visit hospitals over the next seven days to seek a mandate from the medical community.

YDA Punjab announced a series of grand conventions across the province, with the first scheduled for October 4, 2026, in Gujrat. It also demanded the dissolution of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s (PMDC) current non-elected body and called for elections to allow doctors to elect their representatives. The association said it would highlight hospital-related concerns, including alleged corruption and misuse of resources, with supporting evidence.

The association appreciated the Punjab Chief Minister’s healthcare initiatives and called for doctors and other key stakeholders to be included in policymaking to improve hospitals, ensure quality treatment for patients, and provide medical staff with adequate resources. YDA Punjab reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts for the rights of patients and the medical community.
